Lebanese Superstar Elissa Retires From an Industry ‘Similar to Mafias’

Yesterday, Lebanese star Elissar Khoury who is commonly known as Elissa, shocked her fans with the news of her last album before retiring. The pop star took it to Twitter to announce ending her singing career because of the mafia-like industry.

“I am preparing this new album with a lot of love and passion. The reason is that it will be the last one in my career. I am announcing this with a heavy heart but with a lot of conviction because I can’t work in a field that is similar to mafias. I can’t be productive anymore,” said Elissa via Twitter.

Elissa is one of the highest selling stars in the Middle East. Throughout her career, she tried to sing about multiple topics including her battle with cancer which she only revealed after being treated.

While nothing was revealed concerning why this decision was taken, there have been some issues between Elissa and her record label, Rotana, last year following a deal she made with music streaming service, Deezer.
