Members of The Egyptian Football Association Resign Following Elimination of The Egyptian Team from Round 16 in AFCON

Following the 1-0 defeat from South Africa which led to the elimination of the Egyptian team from AFCON, Hany Abou Rida announced his resignation from the presidency of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA)

Abou Rida, who believes that the EFA did everything they could and provided the national team members with all the required financial and technical support, has asked members of the EFA to hand in their resignation as well.

Javier Aguirre, the Mexican manager of the Egyptian football team, and the rest of his team were also discharged, announced Abou Rida in a statement.

Vice president, Ahmed Shoubair, and other members including Hazem Emam, Essam Abdelfatah and Seif Zaher also submitted their resignations following Abou Rida’s statement.

This is the worst performance from The Pharaohs that we’ve witnessed so far. Despite Shenawy and Tarek Hamed’s efforts, the rest of the team were acting like they’ve never seen a football in their lives. The poor performance led to the elimination of the Egyptian team from Round 16 despite of being the hosts.

According to Youm7, the EFA which was already under fire since the poor performance in the World Cup last year, has been under investigation over mismanagement in the Amr Warda case.

The weak crisis management and poor handling of a huge scandal such as sexual harassment has led to many people questioning the EFA, and the whole team as well. Multiple sources state that such distractions could be one of the reasons behind the team’s loss.
