Huawei Founder Reacts to Google’s Android Ban Saying That The US Government ‘Underestimates’ Huawei

Huawei had never had the strongest relationship with the US over time. However, the company reached rock bottom with the country when the Trump administration banned American corporations from doing business with the Chinese company.

Following the news, Google announced that it had to cut ties with the Huawei, and hence, the company won’t be allowed to use Android any longer! This means that the company is no longer eligible to Google updates on the Android system. Yet, Huawei can still supply their own updates to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) running currently on their phones.

In reaction to the ban, the founder of Huawei ,Ren Zhengfei, stated that they were fully prepared to face US bans on key components following the trade war between China and the US which led to the restrictions caused by Trump’s recent declaration of a national economic emergency.

“The current practice of US politicians underestimates our strength,” Ren told Chinese media on Tuesday. “Huawei’s 5G will absolutely not be affected. In terms of 5G technologies, others won’t be able to catch up with Huawei in two or three years. We have sacrificed ourselves and our families for our ideal, to stand on top of the world. To reach this ideal, sooner or later there will be conflict with the US.”
