After a decade and half of watching the Winchester brothers, Dean and Sam, fight odd demons, vampires and all kinds of other-worldly creatures, the American CW show ‘Supernatural’ is finally coming to an end.

The three main stars of the show Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins who play brothers Dean and Sam Winchester and Castiel, respectively, broke the sad new to the millions of fans through their twitter and other social media accounts earlier this morning.

“We just told the crew that even though we’re very excited to be moving into our 15th season, it will be our last,” Ackles spoke.

“15 years of a show that has certainly changed my life, I know it’s changed these two guys’ lives, and we just wanted you to here from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale.”

Running the span of 15 seasons (a season a year), with a handful of 300 episodes so far, the beloved show was often criticized for the degrading writing quality across seasons and disregard for female characters which lessened in recent years.

However, as soon as the stars posted their farewell video on the internet, the entire fandom broke into tears, reminiscing over the good times and how much Supernatural had affected them.

“Well, it’s official. One more round for the Winchester brothers. Though nothing ever really ends in Supernatural…does it?” continued Ackles.

Despite its longevity, the show’s ratings have been facing a constant slope downwards with the 14th season seeing a -23.70% decrease in viewers.

The fifteenth and final season will be aired in 2020, with total of 20 episodes to bid the loyal fans farewell.

And perhaps it is to those fan-girls (and fan-boys) that Supernatural owes its long-run as the network only continued to renew the show because of their intense loyalty.
