After rumors of Neymar’s return to FC Barcelona, it is no secret now that their Clásico rival Real Madrid are keen on signing the Brazilian striker.
The Spanish giants are reportedly willing to pay £300 million (about €347 million) to sign Neymar from his current team Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports in Spain suggest that Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, has personally called the 27-year-old PSG star making him a number of promises, in attempts to lure him to the Bernabeu.
Firstly, the club will pay him €330M, of which his father and agents get €30M. Secondly, he will get a house in La Finca, one of the finest and most luxurious residential estates in Madrid. And finally, a salary of around €45 million per season, over five seasons, which is €9M more than what he is currently getting at PSG. This amount outshines the £198 million PSG spent on him to sign him from FC Barcelona in 2017.
If this happens, it would be a world record fee and Neymar would be officially the highest earner football player.
The Spanish giants are desperate to get a big name replacement for their former star, Cristiano Ronaldo, following his £100 million summer switch to Juventus.
Now, they have made Neymar their #1 choice; potentially driving him to be the big statement they will want to make.
It is notable to mention that Neymar revealed one week ago that he is happy in PSG and is not considering leaving, even for Real Madrid.
“It is obvious that Real Madrid are a great team, one of the best in the world, I have great respect for them but, today, I see myself in Paris,” he said. “My objective was to play for Barcelona, it was my dream and I accomplished it, everyone knows”.
Nonetheless, Neymar still admits that anything is possible. “A footballer’s life is very fast. Today I feel very happy in Paris, I only have eyes for PSG. I do not feel attracted by any club, but, between now and the next three months, nobody knows what will happen”, he concluded.
The young Brazilian footballer has been the center of attention for a while now. However, he still leaves us hanging, wondering where his booming success will take him.
