Exactly two days ago, 9 January 2019, Sadcore Hollywood Queen Lana Del Rey released a minimalist song named Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it, also simply known as Hope. Although the song didn’t get promoted, and the single cover being just a Lana basic selfie, it still trended on iTunes and in 13 countries!
According to Complex, the track is only a Fan Single and not an official one, along with Mariners Apartment Complex and Venice Bitch that got released on September 2018. The three songs are just a subtle sign that the new upcoming album Norman F*****g Rockwell is coming to life, but none of them is an official single, and there still isn’t a final confirmation that they’re gonna make it on the album’s final cut. The first official single of the album is still forthcoming.
Since we’re all curious about Lana’s new album, MTV UK reported that it will be released on 29 March 2019 with no official confirmation yet. And if you are a fan of her album Ultraviolence released in 2014, these are some good news for you: according to RMF Classic Radio on November 2018, the album will have 11 tracks and a lot of electric guitar! It also includes a collaboration with Lorde and producer Jack Antonoff.
Hope is a very simple song composed of Lana’s vocals and a piano accompanying her. The lyrics shift from describing her own feelings to making Sylvia Plath references and other ones to death. It might be, in fact, one of her career’s most sincere songs.
The collaboration with Jack Antonoff on the album is Del Rey’s first ever, and in a tweet by Antonoff, we can have a glimpse of what happened behind Hope:
hope is a dangerous thing is one of 2 songs that happened the first day that lana and i were in the studio. recorded no click mostly live, felt piano + lana’s perfect vocal. sounded exactly like that in the room. this one means a lot. listen at night alone

Well, the magic felt in the song is even bigger now. Guess we will listen to it only at night!
