Recently The Confederation of African Football known as CAF announced Egypt as the new host for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Although the rights were taken away from Cameroon late last year, Egypt submitted their bid alongside South Africa to host the finals. CAF continued on saying that Cameroon was not ready to host 24-teams.
Following CAF’s decision to strip the hosting rights from Cameroon because of delays in infrastructure and security concerns, Egypt and South Africa bid to step in as late hosts.The Egyptian delegation includes Presentation Sports CEO, Mohamed Kamel, and Football Federation board member, Ahmed Megahed, Karam Kordy and Magdy Abdel-Ghany.

Egypt last hosted the Afcon tournament in 2006, while South Africa last hosted it was in 2013. Both have hosted on four occasions in total compared to South Africa’s two.
