Beach Soccer: Egypt Beats Title Holders and Secures a Spot in The Upcoming Round

Egypt; the host country of the Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations beat previous title winners in 2015, Madagascar, to secure a spot in the next round.

The first period was actually on fire, Egypt’s opener came only one minute into the kick-off by the captain Samir by scoring a penalty into the Madagascan net.

Not so much later, a second goal helped Egypt lead the game from a corner. With 2-0 in hand, the Madagascan side fought back fiercely by the likes of Fitana and Regis to equalize the score just one minute before the first period is whistled.

Although, Moustafa Aly scored a third for the hosts, again from a corner, helping Egypt to end the first period with a goal in hand.

The second period was underway as the Egyptians were calm and confident by the 3-2 lead, although the Madagascan side built up the pressure against the Egyptian side, Elshahat scored a fourth giving our national team a two goal lead.

The third period was all about Madagascan pressure, but as hard as they tried to net, the Egyptian defense did not break and the local hosts secured themselves a spot in the next round.

Madagascar is yet to play against Morocco to fight for the last spot in the group.

Egypt is set to play against Ivory Coast on Tuesday December 11th, 2018.
