Wolverine is now a rock star! On Thursday, 29th of November, Hugh Jackman went on NBC’s Today Show and announced his first ever world arena tour. The 50-Year-Old Hollywood Icon is going on the road summer of 2019 with several dates across the UK, United States and Europe. The tour is promised to be a ‘show reel’ of his life thus far to celebrate all the musical roles that he has played throughout his career.
The Europe tour will kick off in Hamburg, Germany on the 13th of May and include 12 dates in France, Switzerland, Ireland, England and Netherlands. He will then fly over to the United States for the inaugaral show in Houston, Texas, followed by 21 other dates in Chigaco, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and more. Hugh will be playing in iconic arenas across the world such as the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin, the O2 Arena in London, and Madison Square Garden in New York.
“I’m on the back nine of my life right now and this is about the front nine, the best parts of the front nine. I will be singing stuff from the Greatest Showman, Les Mis, stuff I’ve done on Broadway, stuff that I auditioned for that I didn’t get cast for.”
Hugh Jackman will be accompanied by a 26 piece orchestra and 30 dancers to ensure that every night will be an unforgettable experience. He mentioned that he will be bringing on guest stars and surprise appearances to diversify the tour and make each individual show a unique and intimate experience with the audience.
“I love going to a concert when I feel something happens that night, that can only happen that night.”
He has been on a rigorous training diet, with over 8 hours of dance rehearsals every week and daily vocal exercises. As of now, the official set list hasn’t been announced yet, but Hugh mentioned that he is choosing his favorite songs to perform with a focus on providing a huge variety. Billboard put together this impressive dream set list, including A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman and Bring Him Home from Les Misérables.
Jackman had on the biggest, most adorable smile as he made the announcement. He looked incredibly delighted and excited as he talked about the upcoming tour, mentioning several times that it has been on his bucket list and that it’s a dream-come-true for him. We wish him the best of luck on his tour, and we can’t wait to see him enamor the crowds and rock the stage in all the major cities of the world.
The Greatest Showman was a worldwide hit, with the album staying on the charts 21 weeks in total and becoming the longest-running musical soundtrack on the charts since the 1960s.
