Aged just 18, Ahmed Osama El-Gendy made us all proud as he was awarded the best junior male pentathlete award in the 70th UIPM Congress which was held in Cyprus.
El-Gendy deserved the award after he had an exceptional season as he won the gold medal in the Youth Olympic Games which was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also manged to become world champion at both the UIPM Junior and Under 19 Tetrathlon World Championships. Ahmed has made history not only for himself but also for Egypt as Egypt had never won an Olympic or Youth Olympic medal before.
The Egyptian Champion has mentioned that his heroes in pentathlon are the Egyptian athlete Aya Medany and the Russian Alexander Lesun that he hopes to be able to compete with him in Tokyo in 2020.
Ahmed thanked his family, his coaching team and the other people who helped and motivated him to achieve his Youth Olympic dream.
