Since the Championship’s premiere in 1974, Egypt has won first place a total of 12 times. While basketball doesn’t usually receive a lot of attention from the masses in Egypt, our team remains one of the strongest teams in the Arab World and in Africa.

The five participating teams in this year’s championship are Algeria, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It is expected to run until the 17th of November, with all games taking place at the Cairo International Stadium.

The Arab Basketball Championship is held in conjunction with the African Qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The remaining qualifier matches will be played in Angola starting from the end of November and up until the 2nd of December.

Egypt, who currently sits at third place in our group in African Qualifiers, still has a chance to make it to the 2019 World Cup. We have three key games ahead between November 30th to December 2nd against Tunisia, Cameroon and Chad respectively.
