Barcelona beat Real Madrid 5-1 in another Clasico. In the absence of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez manged to score a hat-trick and leaded the team to the big win at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona took the lead in the first half, Philippe Coutinho managed to score the match’s first goals which is Coutinho’s first goal against Real Madrid then Suarez scored a penalty that was awarded by a Video Assistant Referee review.
However, Real Madrid were quick to get one back in the second half with Marcelo finishing off a wonderful move to make it 2-1 raising hopes of a comeback. But Suarez then scored twice in the second half to complete his hat-trick before Arturo Vidal made it 5-1 at his first Clasico.
It’s note worthy to mention that this is Suarez’s first hat-trick against Real Madrid and his 12th hat-trick since joining Barcelona.
The heavy result leaves Lopetegui in a tough situation that might affect his journey with the team. After today’s Clasico, Barcelona is on the top of La Liga table with 21 points and Real Madrid comes 9th with 14 points.
On Wednesday, Barcelona host Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey before travelling to take on Rayo Vallecano in La Liga next Saturday. And Real Madrid visit Melilla for the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie on Wednesday before hosting Valladolid next Saturday.
