After a pretty exciting transfer window, we were blessed with more thrilling group stages in the UEFA champions league, one of the best to witness in its history where we get to see Liverpool, Napoli and Paris Saint Germain in one group, and the former clubs for Crisitano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba to meet on one field!

Here’s our UCL draw:

On the first week of the Champions league, Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven were granted the kickoff of the season were we finally had different timings for the games so all the catalans who can’t miss a game for the Blaugranas have watched the 4-0 victory over the Dutch club with a hattrick from Leo Messi who surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo to be the player with the most hattricks in the UCL (8).

Following the game was the fierce encounter between Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain, however the clash wasn’t as appealing as it may sound, and ofcourse all the Egyptians felt the same because our boy Mohamed Salah was out of form in the last gasp winning 3-2 match where Firmino was the Reds saver for the night and Mohamed Salah’s miss pass in the last moments of the game caused his side to concede an equalizer from Kylian Mbappe.

After a six season absence of the Inter’s name in the champions league, we’ve finally seen the Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi showing his best skills in an outstanding out of the box strike to equalize in the 85th minute and Matias Vecino to score a last minute winner in the dying moments of the game.

On the same night we’ve seen Atletico turning things upside down in the Monaco 2-1 win and stand above Dortmund sharing three points after the Germans away 0-1 win over Club Brugge.

The following night was much more dramatic for the Ronaldo’s first UCL appearance with his new club as he received a very harsh straight red card on the 30 minute mark for kicking Jeison Murillo while running towards the goal and slightly hitting his head objecting on the defender’s dive, however the night ended well for the 10 men team as the Italians had a 2-0 win over the Spanish FC Valencia.

Meanwhile, the Don’s former club had an easy 3-0 triumph over Roma at the Santiago Bernabeu to stand solely top the table as CSKA Moscow drew 2-2 with thee Czech club Viktoria Plzen.

What came for all of us as a surprise, was the last season’s Premier league claimers Manchester City tragically losing 2-1 to the French outfit Lyon, the french dominated the first half with Liverpool’s loanee Nabil Fakir scoring the second before the half time whistle and the Blues tried to switch roles in the second half and score a goal to rise their hopes up, however they failed to equalize against the Les Gones.

Pretty tense week huh? A much better one is waiting for you next Wednesday as Barcelona will meet up with the Spurs, Napoli will stand against Liverpool and Dortmund will have a much tougher task against Monaco. Can’t wait!
