Unlike the usual direction the Egyptian films take, Yomeddine film discuss something that touches us all, bring a lesson for humanity not to judge by looks but by hearts.
The movie is about a man called Beshay, who decided to leave “Mosta3meret Elgezam” and go search for his family. The actor who plays the role of Beshay is Rady Gamal, a former leprosy patient, which stands for the 1st time in front of a camera an acts in a movie.
The movie is directed by Abu Bakr Shawky to be the 1st film for him. Ten years ago, he made a documentary movie about the same topic and he decided to make a movie about it. Yomeddine will represent Egypt in the 91st Academy Awards, Oscars 2019 for Best Foreign Language film category. Also,
On the 23rd of September in Minya, the movie premiere of Yomeddine will take place. It’s chosen to play the movie for the 1st time in Minya because the lead actor Rady was born there. Three days later, the film will be screened in Cairo and all over Egypt.
On the 28th of September, Yomeddine flies to UAE and will be screened in cinema Akil. Also, the movie was selected to be screened during Mill Valley Film Festival in California, US next October. During the same month, the movie will be screened at the BFI London Film Festival.
