The annual Emmy awards took place early morning today (2 am Egypt time) at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California. Although it was mainly to see if The Crown’s Claire Foy was going to win (she did), I stayed up all night catch the TV’s biggest night and bring you our list of best and worst dressed on the 2018 Emmy’s!
Best Dresses List (in no particular order):
Colours are apparently the new black because we are loving the bright and peppy dresses gracing the red carpet. (It was actually creamy though, not red)
- Thandie Newton
British Actress Thandie Newton walked away last night with a Best Support Actress in a Drama Emmy for her performance on Westworld and she did it with a bang! Not only did she charm everyone with her acceptance speech, but she also wowed everyone with her pink column gown by Brandon Maxwell and Harry Winston statement earrings.
- Scarlett Johansson
Our ever-beautiful Avengers actress looked absolutely stunning dressed in a white Balmain gown alongside metallic sandal heels and Nikos Koulis jewels. The Black Widow actress was there with her boyfriend, Colin Jost, who hosted this year Emmy’s with Micheal Che.
- Issa Rae
Even though Rae went home without a trophy, wearing a powder blue Vera Wang jumpsuit covered in a total of 3,000 crystals probably made up for it. I mean, who wouldn’t feel good in that?
- Sandra Oh
You might know her as Cristina Yang from the medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy, but she’s at the Emmy’s for her performance on Killing Eve. Sandra is also the first woman of Asian descent to receive an Emmy nomination for a lead role, and she would’ve made history has she won. (Claire got this, leave my girl alone)
Oh was dressed in a metallic red Ralph & Russo Couture gown featuring a beaded waist and sleeves, plus Neil Lane jewelry.
- Mandy Moore
Everyone’s favourite TV mom looked sexy in this dark copper/metallic custom Rodarte dress paired with Harry Winston diamond drop earrings and a diamond cuff. Perfect hair, perfect makeup, perfect dress and perfect shoes; Moore never looked better!
- Jessica Biel
Only the gorgeous Jessica Biel could pull off this strapless Ralph & Russo gown straight from the runway. Paired with Harry Winston jewelry, this ruffled/wrapped up dress helps the star stand out on the carpet with a romantic feel. It’s the best I’ve ever seen her in!
- Allison Janney
This Oscar-winning actress had this dress as her second choice for the Film Academy ceremony last year. However, she pulls it off so effortlessly here that it’s almost impossible to hold it against her for keeping it hidden so long. Janney truly looked marvelous in this glittering-purple Prabal Gurung gown with statement sleeves and a sexy high-slit. The look was complete with a matching purple Tyler Ellis clutch, Stuart Weitzman heels and emerald jewelry.
- Aidy Bryant
Cute, different and unique; that’s exactly whatever you’re dressed in should scream. This tulle midi dress was made by New York designer Tanya Taylor, specifically for the Saturday Night Live cast member. Pairing it off with a small clutch and nude platform ankle-strap heels, it felt soft, feminine and playful like her personality.
- Angela Sarafyan
Finally, our last entry goes to the only black dress in the evening belonging to one of the first arriving on the red carpet, Angela Sarafyan. Dressed in a Christian Siriano gown, Sarafyan looked like a sky full of stars, pun intended. This one certainly had us swept off our feet by this one; the jewelry by Harry Kotlar definitely didn’t hurt her cause either!
