7 Tv Shows Premiering/Returning This Summer

The overwhelming ongoing flood of new platforms and channels, combined with the drift of Hollywood talent from film to television is making it hard to keep up with what is returning/premiering when.

Just to keep you updated for the summer, below is a list of some tv shows dated to premiere/return in the next two months.

1. Sharp Objects: Miniseries

Sharp Objects is an upcoming American television psychological thriller miniseries based on Gillian Flynn’s debut novel of the same name. Created and co-written by Marti Noxon, it stars Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, an emotionally troubled reporter who returns to her hometown to cover the murders of two young girls. Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, and Matt Craven co-star. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, the eight-episode miniseries is scheduled to debut on HBO on July 8, 2018.

2. El Chapo: Season Three

El Chapo is an American crime television series, co-produced by Netflix and Univision, about the life of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The series premiered on April 23, 2017 on Univision before airing on Netflix worldwide. It stars Marco de la O as the titular character.
The series recounts the beginnings of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán in 1985 when he was a low-level member of the Guadalajara Cartel, his rise to power as head of the Sinaloa Cartel, and his downfall.
Season three is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 9, 2018.

3. Suits: Season Eight

Suits is an American legal drama television series created and written by Aaron Korsh. The series premiered on June 23, 2011, on the cable network USA, and is produced by Universal Cable. Suits is set at a fictional law firm in New York City. The focal point of the show follows talented college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who initially works as a law associate for Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), despite never actually having attended law school. The show focuses on Harvey and Mike managing to close cases while maintaining Mike’s secret.
On January 30, 2018, it was announced the series was renewed for an eighth season without series regulars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle. Previews reveal that Katherine Heiglwill join the season eight cast as Samantha Wheeler, with recurring stars Dulé Hill and Amanda Schull being promoted to series regulars. On March 8, 2018, it was announced previous series star Gina Torres will have a spin-off centred around her character, Jessica Pearson, set in Chicago.
Season eight will premiere on July 18, 2018.

4. Castle Rock: Season One

Castle Rock is an upcoming American psychological horror web television series based on the stories of Stephen King, intertwining the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.
It is set to premiere on July 25, 2018, on Hulu.

5. Orange Is The New Black: Season Six

Orange Is the New Black (sometimes abbreviated to OITNB) is an American comedy-drama web television series created by Jenji Kohan for Netflix. The series is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison (2010), about her experiences at FCI Danbury, a minimum-security federal prison. Orange Is the New Black premiered on July 11, 2013, on Netflix.
Season Six is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 27, 2018.

6. Better Call Saul: Season Four

Better Call Saul is an American television crime drama series created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spin-off prequel of Gilligan’s prior series Breaking Bad. Set in the early 2000s, Better Call Saul follows the story of con-man turned small-time lawyer, James Morgan “Jimmy” McGill (Bob Odenkirk), six years before the events of Breaking Bad, showing his transformation in the persona of Saul Goodman, as well as briefly explore his life sometime after the events of Breaking Bad. The series also explores the situations of other Breaking Bad characters in the years prior. The show premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015.
Season four is scheduled to premiere on AMC on August 6, 2018.

7. Ballers: Season Four

Ballers is an American comedy-drama television series created by Stephen Levinson and starring Dwayne Johnson as Spencer Strasmore, a retired NFL player who must navigate his new career of choice as the financial manager of other NFL players. The series premiered on the American cable television network HBO on June 21, 2015, with a pilot episode written by Levinson and directed by Peter Berg.
The fourth season of Ballers will premiere on August 12, 2018.
