Egypt Takes Further Steps Away From the World Cup

After breaking the curse of the World Cup qualification that lasted for 28 years, Egypt has lost its two clashes of the campaign against Uruguay and Russia almost declaring their departure from Mundial 2018.

Egypt had no luck in achieving a win nor a draw against the hosts Russia as their fight was over after the first 20 minutes in the second half of the encounter, where Ahmed Fathi fell into the blunder of an own goal and minutes later the Russians netted two goals through their players Dzyuba and Cheryshev.

The Pharoahs started the games with a fierce spirit against the South Americans, Uruguay, and managed to keep the game on level till the strike of 90 minutes, however, a disappointing header from Gimenez killed the players hope for a draw against the toughest opponent.

“I’m obviously not happy about the result. I don’t know what happened at the beginning of the second-half, we made a lot of mistakes because of a lack of concentration and the Russian team were able to make the most out of it,” Cuper revealed after the game

Despite the two consecutive losses, Egypt still slightly has a chance of qualifying to the Round of 16, only if Saudi Arabia managed to steal a victory against Uruguay in their encounter tonight and we were able to gain three points against Saudi Arabia on the 25th of June, achieving a score that would overcome the goal difference with Russia.

By anyways we are all truly thankful to the Egypt national team for all their efforts through the World Cup and for an otherworldly celebration of the qualification against Congo and we hope to never miss the chance of such an honor ever again!
