Millie Bobby Brown deactivates her Twitter account after being used as a homophobic meme

Millie Bobby Brown, the 14-year-old star of the Netflix series “Stranger Things”, deactivated her Twitter account this week after becoming a homophobic meme.

The whole cyber bullying started when creators of memes on the platform tweeted pictures of the young star, with texts that featured homophobic statements which went viral. Thus has lead to people creating the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown.

The memes falsely accuse the 14-year-old actress of being homophobic, although she is very vocal about her views against homophobia.

Despite deactivating her Twitter account, she didn’t deactivate her Instagram but disabled her comments. Her latest post was 6 days ago, featuring a caption saying “Happy national best friends day. “I’m the luckiest person to call these people my best friends. I don’t have one best friend i have many and each of them are the most spectacular people that i love very much ❤️.”

Millie Bobby Brown has been included in a list of “100 most influential figures” according to Times magazine for the different causes she stands for.
