Ahmed Ezz’s series, “Abu Omar Al Masry” seemed to aggravate the Sudanese government.
Summoning the Egyptian ambassador in Khartoum earlier this morning, the Sudanese foreign ministry issued a complaint against the series and officially requested a ban. It seems it presents Sudan as a land for “fugitive terrorists”.
In retaliation, the producers and cast issued a statement in a press release; they argued the series is a fictional scenario that does not describe current Sudan at all.
Moreover, the Sudanese embassy in Cairo has rejected the series in an official statement. The series skates on thin ice―will they call it off or let it go?
