Gaza Clashes: Dozens killed as US Opens Jerusalem Embassy

Palestinians clashed with Israeli military on Monday 14th of May. 2018 at the fence, dividing the Gaza strip. This clash left reportedly dozens of protesters dead and scored injured over just the past few hours ahead of the U.S. embassy opening in Jerusalem. Reports stated that at least 50 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops during the clash. In addition, Gaza’s Health Ministry said that 772 Palestinians at least were also wounded by Israeli fire


The protest came right after American delegation -including President Trump’s son in law Jared-Kushner, his daughter Ivanka Trump as well as Steve Mnuchin, his Treasury Secretary are to attend a ceremony at the new embassy site to open the embassy in Jerusalem. An Israeli military spokesman stated that the protesters are larger and more violent that what they have seen in the last month and a half.




Trump announced earlier this year that the United States would move its embassy to Jerusalem which caused both – joy in Israel and outcry from Palestinians and many other countries worldwide. In a record message at today’s ceremony, President Trump said he remained “fully committed” to pursuing peace between Israel and Palestine. He also added “Our greatest hope is for peace”.

Palestinians hurled stones and incendiary devices, while Israeli military used snipers as black smoke poured from burning eyes. Devastatingly, according to what The Hamas-run health ministry said earlier; children were among those killed on Monday.

Hamas, which is a state of conflict with Israel, had said it would step up protests in the lead-up to Tuesday; the official Nakba commemoration.
