The thing about being in your 20’s is that this phase can either be the most interesting or the most devastating in your life. There’s a fine line that you should look closely for if you want to nail your 20’s. At the end of the day, just like any other phase in your life, it’s all about experimenting, the choices you make and the consequences you have to live with. However, there are some things that you shouldn’t fall for if you want to get the best out of your golden years.
- Don’t leave any toxic people in your life
They don’t have to be lovers. Toxic people can be anyone that drains your energy; they can be your friends, colleagues, family members, or anybody else. They’re the kind of people who only take and never give. They always put you under pressure and they kind of enjoy it. The people who blow every flame of excitement you have and put you down in more than one way, those are the people you need to avoid. Never cut ties but just be aware of the poison they put into your life if you want to be happy.
2. You’re not running out of time, stop chasing things
When you hit your 20’s, everything in life starts looking like a race. You should be able to find the right person to marry. Graduate and get a very good job. Maintain friendship with your old friends while building new friendships with people you just met. Be a parent yourself. Pay bills. Be fit. The list of things you have to do is endless, it feels like this is your only chance to do everything, but this is all wrong. This is the time when you explore yourself and start preparing for life. You should only start figuring out what you need to do and where you want to be. There’s no deadline in your life, live it with your own pace and let things fall into place at the right time.
3. Life won’t just happen to you, you have to go out there and make it happen
If you want to get the most out of your 20’s, you have to work for it. Take risks and do unusual things if you want unusual results. Go out and learn stuff that you always wanted to learn, experience new things, travel, and meet new people. Get lost in order to find your way yourself. Fail. Fall down. Life is all about trial and error, there’s no manual to guide you here, you should crack the code all by yourself. That’s why you need to do everything you always wanted to do because this is the time when you’re young and free to do things.
4. Don’t ignore your body
Your body needs lots and lots of care. You need to start looking at the things you eat, your habits, your lifestyle, your routine and all the factors affecting your overall physique. You need to look good and be fit because this will result in your own good. If you don’t take good care of your body, I promise it will pay you back in the near future and the consequences won’t be very nice.
5. Most importantly, don’t ignore your mental health
It’s a stressful phase, but you need to let go of all that stress. Everything you try and everything you do should only add up to your happiness. That’s why you should let go of any source of negativity.
