Hold on to your motorcycle saddle everyone, cause we are about to go on a ride that everyone has been waiting for years.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, finally we got our first look of FX’s Mayans MC, the next chapter and a spin-off of the Sons of Anarchy.
For you who have never heard of Sons of Anarchy (which is impossible), it’s still to this day one of FX’s most-watched TV series, which aired from 2008 till 2014. It’s a loose adaption of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, through a modern, violent and gore story, following the lives of a close outlaw motorcycle club, and how inside that so-called family is filled with betrayal, murder, and deception.
The official synopsis: “Set in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death at the end of SOA’s seven-season run in 2014, Mayans MC will focus on the struggles of Ezekiel ‘EZ’ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape.”
The spin-off will be picking up the story a couple of years after that destructive series finale of Sons of Anarchy, focusing on the club’s rival the Mayans Motorcycle club, but mainly the series will follow the life and struggles of the Mayan MC prospect, Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes played by J. D. Pardo, and how the club’s violence and his own personal vengeance will turn his life upside down.
Kurt Sutter, the mastermind behind the original series, will also be the one producing this series, so there is no doubt in mind that it will have the same success as the one Sons of Anarchy had. There is a lot of buzz around this new series, seeing that all of its cast members are Latinos, a move by Kurt Sutter and his team to bring out a strong voice and message from the Latino community. Edward James Olmos along with Jacqueline Obradors will also be joining the cast
It was announced that the season will start with 10 episodes, and will premiere later this year, probably by the end of summer. One thing we all are sure about, we cannot wait to get a glimpse of the premiere and get thrown back into that outlaw world.
