A number of movies caused a change in the continuously selling industry of cars because of how fans got attached to the cars their favourite characters sped and drove around with. Here are 5 of priciest cars from iconic movies.
1. Ford GT40 Gulf (Le Mans)
Despite its short presentation in the movie, the 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf messed with the minds of the car collectors and enthusiasts. It was sold for $11 million which is mostly the greatest amount of money spent on an American car.
2. Ferrari 250 GT (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
It may look like an ordinary car owned by a teenager that rides it with his girlfriend by his side. After being an icon for the movie in 1961, it was bought by Chris Evans in 2008 for $10.9 million.
3. Shelby Cobra Daytona (Redline 7000)
Being the only American car to beat a Ferrari in a race, the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona from Steve McQueen’s collection was finally priced at $7.25 million.
4. Batmobile (Batman)
Not from a movie, but the customized Ford Lincoln Futura as a Batmobile from the 1966-1968 Batman TV Series still counts in the list. The car was sold in 2013, 47 years after the show, for $4.62 million.
5. Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger)
How can we leave the list without the famous James Bond car? James Bond’s Aston Martin first appeared in Goldfinger(1964) starring young Sean Connery. There were only two cars made for the movie, the first stolen and the second displayed at Union Savings Bank’s president Harry Yeaggy’ private museum with a $4.6 million price tag.
