Ibtihaj Muhamed continues to inspire women and girls all over the world. The American athlete who is best known for being the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab while competing in the Olympics, she earned the bronze medal as part of Team USA in the Team Sabre, becoming the first female Muslim American athlete to earn a medal at the Olympics.
Ibtihaj made headlines again after being modeled on the 1st hijabi barbie. The American toy brand has just unveiled its 10th doll in the collection designed to create a fuller representation of humanity and offer greater aspirations to its impressionable young customers. Ibtihaj was presented with the first doll off the line at Monday’s Women of the Year summit in New York City by Ashely Graham, the plus-size model who had her own no-thigh gap babrie last year.
Ibtihaj said in a tweet that having a barbie that represents herself is a dream that came true.
Thank you @Mattel for announcing me as the newest member of the @Barbie #Shero family! I’m proud to know that little girls everywhere can now play with a Barbie who chooses to wear hijab! This is a childhood dream come true 😭💘 #shero pic.twitter.com/py7nbtb2KD

The American athlete is considered one of the best symbols against intolerance that America can have. However, Ibtihaj drew some criticism during the Olympics by describing the United States as a dangerous place for Muslims, saying that she did not feel safe as a Muslim living in America.
