Farida Osman is the best female athlete in Africa

The Golden Fish, Farida Osman has just won the award for the best female athlete in Africa at the World Athletics Awards ceremony on the sidelines of the National Olympic Committee meeting which was held in Prague, Czech Republic.

Farida was awarded the prize due to her great effort as she is the first ever Egyptian to claim a medal in the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Championships that was held in August 2017 as she broke her African record for the third time to win bronze in 50m butterfly final (25.39) behind Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (24.60) who won gold and the Netherlands Ranomi Kromowidjojo (25.38) who won silver.

The 22-year old also became the third fastest female swimmer of all time in the 100-yard butterfly race as she won her first individual National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title.

After this win, Farida Osman has become a symbol of hope and pride not only to the Egyptians but for the Arab World.
