IT Movie Marketing Campaign: A Simple Red Balloon Is Now An Object of Fear


Based on the scary book by Stephen King, who happens to be one of the most popular horror authors, IT is again made into a movie despite the fact that there are several adaptations of the book for movies and TV shows.

The movie’s premiere is being promoted in the streets of Sydney and Pennsylvania, by hand-painted billboards featuring the monster Pennywise the Clown, and red balloons hanging from the drains.


It’s understandable how scary the prank is, the red balloon is a symbol in IT, by which the monster who appears as Pennywise the Clown, traps the children to drag them and feed on their fear.


It’s cool how the film’s marketing team turned a simple red balloon into a scary object, and it’s funny how the Police Department in Pennsylvania are taking the reports seriously, asking the residents to call the police if they see any clowns or red balloons.

The movie is set to be released on Sep 8, awakening the scary clown once again but this time, directed by Andy Muschetti, I guess we might finally be seeing a good adaptation of IT. We better catch our breaths before the movie hits the big screens.
