Over the past seven years, the social media platforms & the increasing number of music venues available in Cairo, Alexandria, among other cities have made way for the underground music scene to spread rapidly across the whole country.
Many young talented Egyptian youths are now provided with a much bigger space to get their names and music out.
They’re just too many, one can’t possibly give each one of them a fair chance! Also, there’s a wide range of genres out there but if you’re all about Rock, then that’s your lucky day because we’ve got just the band for you!
Karma Police, which is an Egyptian Radiohead tribute band that comprises of 5 members:
Nagham ElDeeb — Lead vocalist, 21 years old
Hossam ElGendy — Lead Guitarist, 21 years old
Khaled Riad — Guitarist, 20 years old
Farida Gamal — Drummer, 20 years old
Omar Hassan (Moftah) — Bassist, 20 years old
It all started when Gendy & Moftah were discussing bands that late 80s & 90s kids listen to. Being massive fans of Radiohead themselves, the band was agreed upon by both. It started off as a few low-key jams at the studio where they covered 1-3 Radiohead songs. Nevertheless, they were able to create a fanbase for themselves; many more Radiohead fans requested more covers via Twitter and Karma Police fulfilled.
