Gaza opens its first cinema after more than 30 years for one night only.

Last Saturday night, about 300 Palestinians attended the first cinema screening in Gaza after more than three decades.

Samer cinema is considered to be one of the oldest cinemas in the city, it opened in 1944 and closed in the 60s to only be abandoned until last week.

The screening was about the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, and people from all ages attended the movie.

There were other theaters in the country but they all closed in the 80s after Hamas took over, considering entertainment a sin.

According to The Guardian, the organizers revealed that they want to restore the soul of art in the country, from movie theaters to parks.
