In the first part of the guide we mentioned some of the animated movies anyone should see before they can call themselves a real DC fan, and in this part of the guide we are going to carry on with our educational path, not only with the most essential animated movies in their right order but also with the most essential TV shows.
Son of Batman
Yes, you read that right! Apparently playboy Bruce Wayne hit it off with Talia Al Ghul, Ras AL Ghul’s daughter, got her pregnant and got himself a trained assassin as an heir.
Batman Vs. Robin
A new threat arises to Gotham City with The Owls’ arrival, a secret community that aims to take control of the city and even worse, they try to recruit Robin, Bruce Wayne’s son.
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis
The story of Aquaman, his journey of discoveringhis powers, his origins and how he got to join the Justice League to stop his brother from leading an Atlantis to war with the surface world.
Batman: Bad Blood
One of the best Batman movies ever if you ask me. Talia Al Ghul is back in town again and with no good intentions and it’s up to team Batman to stop her completely.
Justice League Vs. Teen Titans
Bruce thinks Damian is ready to join another team to strengthen his social skills, so he is taken by Dick Grayson to the Teen Titans tower. There he learns how to work better with others but also learns of Raven’s dark history and tries to stop a whole new kind of evil.
Justice League: Dark
Earth is going crazy and seeing monsters, and the league thinks magic has something to do with it, so Batman along with Zatana visit her old friend Constantine who uses his magic to determine the reason behind those hallucinations. To be honest, I thought the movie was a failure.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
Nightwing is back to the titans again along with another young member, Terra. Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is also back from the dead using a Lazarus Pit and he tries to do what he wants the most, to eliminate the Justice League and the Teen Titans.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
You don’t need to watch this one before or after any other movies but I recommend that you watch it after you finish the series of Batman Beyond to get better understanding of the story.
That’s it for the movies, now we go to the most important TV shows that you need to watch. I would recommend watching before the movies and in that order below. (feel free to not follow the order though)
Batman: The Animated Series
The classiest animated show ever! If you never saw this show, then how dare you call yourself a Batman fan?
Superman: The Animated Series
Batman was better…
The New Batman Adventures
The sequel of Batman’s animated series containing more sophisticated storylines and better graphics.
This one is a bit different because it’s in the future and Batman isn’t Bruce Wayne as we’re used to, but his heir of the dark knight’s throne Terry McGinnis.
If you’re a ’90s kid then you’ll probably recognize the intro at instance. This old school show has the founders of the Justice League and to be honest, I think that this is my favorite version of the league ever!
Justice League Unlimited
A sequel to Justice League but this time instead of just having the 7 main characters, you have the watch tower filled with tens – maybe even hundreds – of league members. Fun fact: at one of the episodes you’ll actually see Batman singing!!!
Okay I’m gonna talk for a bit about this one. This show has 2 seasons (and expecting a third season soon), I watched season one and it was very good. I watched season two and during the first couple of episodes I was like “meh… it’s not as good as the first one”, but I finished that season of the show with an open mouth from amazement, happiness and grief! This show turned to be the most beautiful show I have ever seen in my entire life and I could write a whole paper about how amazing this show is, so please watch it carefully because you will not be disappointed.
