Can you picture a world where everything is fun, easy going and not over-thought? A world that is simple, where you know everything for sure and you know what and who you belong to.
That’s how I personally see memes; memes are a world of their own, a parallel universe that creates a perfect opposite to everything that can suck in the real world. A place where literally anyone will feel like they belong.
A meme is a simple image, video or even a piece of text that can be funny in its nature. That spreads around the internet like a cold or a flu.
What makes a meme special and why has it became such an important aspect in social media? In my opinion, memes represent something more important because of how you mould them.
Memes can be anything you want them to be; a meme can be your really courageous friend that always tells the offensive jokes that you’re embarrassed to tell or your really funny friend that always jokes when they fail at school. A meme can be that friend that always jokes about being sad and depressed. It can be your political friend that really cares about politics for some reason you never understand.
The thing is that memes can represent a part of you. They can be something that you always wanted to say but couldn’t convert it to words, whether it’s good or bad.
There is a meme for literally every situation, so a meme will always be by your side.
They can turn something that upsets to something you laugh about.
It can be something you want to say to a higher authority but can’t (government, schools, or even parents).
If you really think about it, memes can be the perfect escapism. Maybe they’re a big reason to why we are addicted to social media nowadays.
I sincerely wish that the real world becomes more or less like a big giant meme, because maybe then we can feel that we belong.
So I don’t have anything more to say about memes tbh, I just love them. Let me leave you with some of my favorite memes.
May you always find a meme that brightens your day.
