Selena Gomez Launches First American Cover With Vogue

Selena Gomez just launched her first ever cover with Vogue Magazine and we are IN LOVE.

Though Selena has been on the Brasil Vogue in the past, this is her first time to be on the American Vogue magazine cover. The photoshoot took place in Los Angeles where Selena was dressed in a Michael Kors fluorescent bralette, skirt and gorgeous Jennifer Fisher Hoop earrings.

Selena has found her way into the fashion industry in the last couple of years. She was the face of Louis Vuitton’s Series 5 campaign which was photographed by Bruce Weber.

She also had an interview with Vogue’s Rob Haskell to discuss her mental health and the downside of fame. She talks about her low self-esteem and about checking in a psychiatric hospital.

“Tours are a really lonely place for me,” she says. “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious.”

Selena’s new fanbase was one of the reasons behind her low self-esteem, crying before and on shows, the evolution that happened to her and her audience had a huge impact on her.

“I was so used to performing for kids. At concerts I used to make the entire crowd raise up their pinkies and make a pinky promise never to allow anybody to make them feel that they weren’t good enough,” she explained. “Suddenly I have kids smoking and drinking at my shows, people in their 20s, 30s, and I’m looking into their eyes, and I don’t know what to say. I couldn’t say, ‘Everybody, let’s pinky-promise that you’re beautiful!’ It doesn’t work that way, and I know it because I’m dealing with the same shit they’re dealing with.”

Not only is this cover a major step in Selena’s role in the fashion industry but it also plays a part in the improvement of her health. We are so delighted to see Selena more often on screen and hope her well. Surely, her strength, beauty, courage and ability to express her feelings confidently is a huge inspiration to all of us.
