Egypt’s finest squash players, Mohamed and Marwan El-Shorbagy, gave the squash court a Hollywood drama moment with their emotional moment that got the whole world talking about.
Marwan who is ranked #6 beat his older brother who is ranked first for the very first time at the Windy City tournament. Seconds after the match ended, Marwan got really emotional and his older brother was there for him giving him a hug and had a huge smile drawn on his face.
Later that day, Mohamed posted the video with a comment that says “Proudest day of my life”
Marwan now has one aim which is to take on Frenchman Gaultier, the World No.3 whom he beat in the final of the 2016 Grasshopper Cup, in order to keep the silverware in the family. His elder brother won the Windy City Open in 2016.
“It’s tough – we both knew it was going to happen at some point,” said Marwan. “Every time we play it’s a battle on court – but we are best friends off-court. I’m grateful for the sport – it has allowed me to have my brother as my best friend. We share the same life, have the same dreams and we support each other. “We’re there for each other. It’s a tough day today for us. But I have a big match tomorrow to look forward to and a chance to reach a first World Series Final,” he added.
Women also booked their place in the finals of this year’s tournament giving as a guarantee that an Egyptian finalist will be there in both men’s and women’s finals.
Squash players still make us proud every day, with their performance and manners on and off court! Go on champions.
