Split-Movie Review

Just a few days ago, I found everybody’s asking me if I watched the trailer of a movie called “Split” and I felt ashamed for not watching it since I’m a huge fan of James McAvoy so, I decided to go and watch the movie last weekend.
Split is a psychological thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan who’s best known for movies like the last Airbender and After Earth.
The film stars James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy and Betty Buckley that follows the story of Kevin who kidnaps 3 teenagers and it turns out that the real kidnapper is Dennis one of the 23 personalities living inside Kevin’s body, a victim of childhood abuse with severe dissociative identity disorder (DID), and held captive in a cellar.
Then Kevin’s psychiatrist, Dr. Karen Fletcher who believes that in such cases the psychological unbalance can cause physiological changes came. Naturally, Dr. Fletcher is unaware that some of these personalities have gone rogue, they kidnapped these girls while they prepared for the 24th and final personality to arrive “The Beast”.
The Most impressive thing about this movie is the performance of James McAvoy who had the ability to inhabit 24 different characters that ranged from a 9 year old child with a slip to a fashion designer, a female task master and finally THE BEAST.
Of course Split is not the first movie to discuss psychological disorder specially, dissociative identity disorder, but James McAvoy has certainly delivered an outstanding performance that can’t be forgotten.
Anya Taylor-Joy also, proves that she’s one of the most talented young newcomers with a bold performance as Claire.
My only problem with Split is that I kind of felt that the sequence of the events was kind of slow but in general the movie is a must watch.
