Under the slogan of THE BOYS ARE BACK, Australian open allowed the fans to witness another golden grand slam final between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. The two players were on a mission during the past 2 weeks to bring each tennis enthusiast a nostalgic final that brought back all the memories.
Both of them worked really hard to reach the final and took advantage of the defeats of the world no.1 & 2 Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic which was a shock to everyone.
The Swiss –Federer– won his 18th grand slam as he toppled his friend 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to become the 3rd man in history to win 5 Australian open titles.
This title enabled The Swiss to return to the top 10 again but for Nadal who’s come a long way from crying in the car after withdrawing from the Roland Gaross championship due to injury, is now set to rise to no.6 in the ATP ranking after reaching the final of the AO.
As everyone knows, the 2 amazing sportsmen share such a great friendship on and off court that couldn’t be denied during Roger’s Speech after winning the trophy.
“I’d like to congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. There are no draws in tennis, but I would have been very happy to accept one and share it with Rafa tonight. The comeback had been perfect as it was,” said Federer.
